AI visibility reporting tools are everywhere, and each one hands you another batch of metrics. On their own, those numbers say very little. A list of AI queries starts to matter once you place it next to how AI visibility actually works and set it against your organic search queries and pages. Without that context, you fix one gap and open another. Isn't that just robbing Peter to pay Paul?
Our report works from one source only: your Google Search Console data. It shows which queries and pages already earn impressions and clicks, so every AI visibility decision starts from what your site already delivers.
Why AI visibility / Organic Search measurable now
Until this year you couldn’t do this cleanly with Google data. Search Console gained a generative AI performance report on 3 June 2026, with data beginning 18 May 2026. It shows impressions from AI Overviews and AI Mode, along with the URLs that appeared and breakdowns by country, device, and date. On the Microsoft side, Bing Webmaster Tools has an AI Performance report that tracks citations in Microsoft Copilot, AI-generated summaries in Bing, and select AI partner integrations. what ai search analytics can and cannot tell you +2
The rationale
The metric shows how much of a client’s search visibility now happens inside AI answers rather than in classic results. That gives you three useful things.
- It explains falling CTR. Clients see impressions holding steady while clicks drop, and they assume something is broken. A rising AI share tells them their exposure has moved, not disappeared.
- It works at page level. Comparing the ratio per URL sorts pages into groups: pages that rank but are never pulled into AI answers, pages that get cited despite weak rankings, and pages that are strong or weak on both. That’s directly actionable for content architecture and schema work.
- It’s an early trend indicator. Over time it shows how quickly each client’s sector is shifting to AI surfaces, which helps set expectations and justify LLM-focused work.

Summary
Organic clicks almost doubled, from 294 to 563 (+91%), period on period. The share of impressions from Google's AI features (AI Overviews and AI Mode) rose from 15.5% to 26.6%. One topic drove most of that growth: Treatment A. Blog post 1 and Service page 1, both about Treatment A, together added 227 of the 269 extra clicks (84%).
- Visibility grew faster than demand for the brand. Impressions rose 64% to 25,952. Average position improved from 13.9 to 7.7. Branded impressions fell slightly (540 to 452), so the growth is non-brand discovery.
- Treatment A impressions are high but clicks are low. The main Treatment A query earned 4,208 impressions at position 5.1, but its CTR was only 0.9%. AI is not the main cause on Blog post 1: only 17% of its impressions come from AI features. Service page 1 is different, with 65% of its impressions now from AI.
- Half the clicks now come from outside the UK. Non-UK clicks rose from 36% to 49% of the total. The US delivered 5,789 impressions but only 41 clicks. The clinic treats international patients and takes referrals, so much of that growth is relevant demand. The weak US CTR is the gap to close.
- Service pages 3 and 4 are slipping. Impressions fell 35% and 26% respectively. Both pages still sit around position 13.
Data and method
This report uses two Search Console exports. The first is Performance › Search results, Web, last 28 days compared with the previous 28 days. The second is the Generative AI report for the same two periods.
- AI share = AI impressions ÷ total Web impressions. AI impressions are already counted inside the Web total, so this is a share rather than a separate channel. The AI report combines AI Overviews and AI Mode and has no clicks or queries.
- Site totals come from the Devices tab (563 and 294 clicks). The Queries tab only accounts for 211 and 93 clicks, because Google hides rare queries for privacy.
- Average position is weighted by impressions across devices. It may differ slightly from the figure shown in the Search Console interface.
- Topic groups (Treatment A, Treatment B and so on) are keyword matches on query text.
- Anonymisation. The client, the client's name, treatment brand names, topics, search queries and page URLs have been replaced with neutral labels. All figures are unchanged.
Headline metrics
Every headline metric improved. Clicks grew faster than impressions, so CTR rose too.

| Branded query clicks | 40 | 71 | +78% |
| Branded query impressions | 540 | 452 | −16% |
Desktop drove the position gain. It moved from 18.4 to 8.1, and desktop clicks rose from 99 to 241. Mobile CTR held steady at 2.5%, and mobile clicks rose from 188 to 322.
Where the growth came from
Blog post 1 alone added 189 clicks, and its impressions rose from 2,324 to 13,433. Losses were small and spread across Service page 3, the About page and Service page 5.

The homepage was flat at 93 clicks, and its position improved from 14.3 to 8.6. Service page 4 is the weakest large page: 3,363 impressions at position 13.3 earned a CTR of 0.4%, and impressions fell 26%.
AI search visibility
AI features now account for 26.6% of the site's impressions, up from 15.5%. AI impressions almost tripled (2,457 → 6,915), while total impressions grew 64%.

- The service pages are the most AI-exposed. Service page 1 (65%), Service page 2 (44%) and the Contact page (41%) now earn a large share of their impressions in AI answers. Clicks still rose on all three, so AI visibility is not yet costing them traffic.
- Blog post 1 grew in classic results. Only 17% of its impressions are AI. Its 189 extra clicks came from blue links, not AI citations.
- Service page 3 is being held up by AI. Its AI impressions were flat (517 → 520) while total impressions fell 35%. Blue-link visibility is what's shrinking.
- Desktop drives the AI growth. AI share on desktop rose from 16% to 36%. On mobile it barely moved, from 15% to 17%.
- Most AI growth is international. AI impressions outside the UK tripled (1,844 → 5,662). US AI share rose from 8% to 25%, and UK AI share rose from 18% to 29%.
Queries and markets
Treatment A queries grew to 9,400 impressions, 5.5 times the previous 1,695. Other topics moved much less.
| Topic (query contains) | Impressions, prev → last | Clicks, prev → last |
| Treatment A | 1,695 → 9,400 | 12 → 97 |
| Topic D | 2,222 → 3,051 | 6 → 27 |
| Treatment B | 869 → 995 | 24 → 27 |
| Topic C | 156 → 807 | 2 → 5 |
| Topic E | 408 → 262 | 0 → 0 |
| Topic F | 46 → 229 | 1 → 17 |
- Treatment A is ranking, but clicks lag. Treatment A query 1 (4,208 impressions, position 5.1) and Treatment A query 2 (527, position 7.9) have CTRs under 1%. Two cost-related queries (Treatment A queries 3 and 4, 97 impressions for the larger) are new. They show commercial intent, and no page targets them directly.
- The blog post outranks the service page. For Treatment A, Blog post 1 earns 13,433 impressions and Service page 1 earns 3,892. Commercial Treatment A queries should be landing on the service page.
- Question-style queries get seen but not clicked. 70 queries begin with what, how, why or can. They totalled 183 impressions and 0 clicks. One long, conversational question (Question query 1) sat at position 2.9 with no clicks. These are the queries most likely to trigger an AI answer.
- International demand is growing fastest. UK clicks rose from 188 to 287 at a 6.7% CTR. The rest of the world grew from 106 to 276 clicks, led by Germany (1 → 22), Spain (2 → 17) and the Netherlands (1 → 16). The US is the outlier: 5,789 impressions but a 0.7% CTR, so US searchers rarely click through.y
Summary
Accountability is coming to search reporting. Vanity terms and AI Overview queries are interesting, but they don't show how this visibility works with your existing AI and organic content. How are you measuring AI Overviews against search performance for your clients?
